What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Hey younger me,
Stop trying to look normal. Nobody remembers normal kids, and honestly normal is just TV noise and static. Be weird on purpose. Make the zine, start the brand even if it’s just one badly printed tee from your room in Birmingham. Wear it to gigs, get laughed at, keep going anyway.
Don’t wait until you feel ready — ready never shows up. Try things before you’re good at them. That’s the whole point. Save a little money, help your mates when you can, and forgive yourself when life gets heavy. Some people can’t budget because life’s unfair — be kind, always.
Also:
- Talk to people you admire, they’re just people.
- Keep your sketches and your lyrics, they’ll matter later.
- Call your mum back.
- Start the blog sooner. Ask people to subscribe. You’ll be surprised who listens.
You don’t have to be famous. Just be honest.
Make something real.
